Both of my arms were twisted
back, I was bound by silver chains. I tried to stand up, but those chains
held me down firm to the cold cement floor. I recognized this place, it
was the basement in Setting Sun, the bar I co-owned with Raven. What the
hell is going on here.
"Indiana," I heard a Jesse's voice over
to my side. He too was bound, hanging a few inches off the ground, all
beaten up. Did the hunters finally catch us?
A door creaked opened and I saw a familiar
silhouette walking down the stairs. The light bulb hanging above on the
foot of the stairs revealed it was Raven.
"Raven, thank goodness." His face was
ice cold, this was really bad.
"Forgive me, but I have to do this."
Do what, what was he talking about. He was carrying this metal stand wrapped
in rags and put it in front of me, removing the rags. It was a gold cross.
I involuntarily moved away from it, as far as the chains allowed me.
"Raven, why are you doing this?"
"I gave you my word that I would always
protect you," he answered as he turned away from me. He walked around Jesse,
he was now watching us.
"He is killing you, he was never your
servant, he was Galen's." I watched him as he pulled out his Sig-Sauer
gun and just shot Jesse in the back of his head.
Suddenly, I was sitting up in a bed
with black sheets. "Mon petit osieau chanteur [My little songbird], you
were having that nightmare again," Asher said.
